A hidden gem just off Stourbridge High Street. I've seen some great pop up street food venues this year but this is the best use of an old carpark I've seen recently. Tucked behind a pub and accessed via Court Street you be forgiven for not knowing this was there, however if you listen carefully you can hear the funky music coming from inside.
The courtyard is set around a Tiki theme with a covered tipi, straw umbrellas and graffiti covered walls it just oozes cool. Old barrels have been repurposed as tables and colourful stools surround them or sit on a bench under cover and enjoy the heaters if you prefer. Every inch of the old walls are disguised with straw fences or spray painted with bright graffiti keeping you in a bubble which feels a million miles away from the high street nearby.
The Tiki Bar serves funky looking cocktails using their own brand of rum or sip a cold Red Stripe to get into the groove. A string of regular DJ's play funky beats most nights setting the scene for the local hipster crowd.
There are 4 guest food street food stands which rotate regularly meaning you are never short of choices such as Tacos, Kebabs, Pizza, Burgers, Loaded Fries, Waffles or Cheesecake.
This is what we ordered
Elcontador - Modern Mexican Street Food
Beef Brisket Tacos. Slow cooked beef brisket with Mexican cheese, chimichurri, pink pickles and coriander.
Homemade nachos with house seasoning, topped with salsa roja, Mexican cheese, chipotle mayo, lime crema, pink pickles, jalapenos and coriander.
Souvlaki Street - High Quality Traditional Greek food
Chicken Kabab Pitta served with fries and salad.
Washed down with a Red Stripe and a Parma Violet gin and tonic.
The food was delicious and I loved the chilled out vibe. I was disappointed Ossu Japanese Kitchen weren't there as advertised and The Cheesecake Chaps had ran out of Cheesecake. However I must compliment the staff who were so attentive, warm and friendly and very apologetic about the lack of cheesecake. Otherwise it was a really enjoyable experience and this hidden gem is definitely worth a return visit.
They are open Thursday/Friday 5-10:30 PM, Saturday 12-9:30 PM and Sunday 12-9:30 PM.
